CONDITIONS BY THIS TIME TOMORROW MORNING. WE’VE GOT A LOT TO TALK ABOUT. WE HAD OUR LITTLE APPETIZER, QUICK BURST OF SNOW YESTERDAY EVENING. NOW WE’RE GETTING READY FOR THE MAIN EVENT, WHICH WILL ARRIVE LATER ON TODAY. SO HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND AND SNOW LIKELY MOVING INTO THE METRO AFTER. 6:00 THIS EVENING. SO MOST OF THE DAY DRY AND CALM BEFORE THE STORM. HEAVIEST SNOW OVERNIGHT TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO FRIDAY. SNOW BLOWING SNOW, INCREASING WINDS COULD HAVE NEAR BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS AND OF COURSE SUBZERO WIND CHILL VALUES TO GO ALONG WITH IT. AND THEN SEVERAL DAYS OF EXTREME DANGEROUS COLD WIND CHILL ADVISORIES AND WARNINGS, IN EFFECT ALL THE WAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. SO LET’S START WITH OUR WINTER STORM WARNING. IT WILL BE AREA WIDE GOING INTO EFFECT LATER TODAY, AND WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT HERE IN THE OMAHA METRO ALL THE WAY THROUGH FRIDAY AND INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW FORECAST HASN’T CHANGED A WHOLE LOT. EVERYBODY EXPECT AT LEAST FOUR INCHES, MOST IN THE 4 TO 7 RANGE AND JUST SOUTH OF THE METRO LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE BETTER CHANCE TO SEE POSSIBLY SOME OF THOSE TOTALS HIT EIGHT, POSSIBLY NINE INCHES OF DRY AIR, FLUFFIER, POWDERY SNOW. BY THE TIME THIS IS DONE ON FRIDAY. SO HERE’S THE BREAKDOWN OF THE WINTER STORM. AGAIN, THE ONSET. OF THE SNOW IN THE METRO NEAR OR JUST AFTER 6:00, WE’LL START TO BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD BY 9:00. AND REALLY 9 P.M. TONIGHT THROUGH 6 A.M. TOMORROW. THAT’S WHEN WE’LL SEE THE HEAVIEST SNOW FALL. STILL SNOW FALLING FOR THE MORNING DRIVE. TOMORROW, THE WIND PICKING UP SO BLOWING SNOW NEAR BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS FOR MANY OF US. SO THE WORST TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL BE DURING FRIDAY MORNING’S COMMUTE AND EVEN AFTER THE SNOW LETS UP, STILL, WITH THE WIND BLOWING SNOW SNOW CONCERN INTO THE AFTERNOON, ESPECIALLY IN THOSE RURAL AREAS AS WE ALREADY HAVE A LOT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND AND THE FRESH SNOW THAT WILL FALL WILL BE MORE POWDERY. SO EASIER TO WHIP AROUND WITH THE WIND AND THAT WIND CHILL WELL BELOW ZERO. ALL DAY TOMORROW. RIGHT NOW THINGS LOOKING PRETTY QUIET. CLOUDY OVER THE METRO NOW AGAIN. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET SIDE STREETS. AFTER THAT QUICK BURST OF SNOW YESTERDAY EVENING. SOME OF THEM MAY BE A LITTLE MORE SNOW COVERED. MAIN STREETS STILL LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. 22 IN OMAHA RIGHT NOW. FEELS LIKE NINE. LOOK AT NORFOLK WHERE IT’S CLEAR SIX FEELS LIKE SEVEN BELOW ZERO. A BIT OF A NORTH BREEZE ALREADY THIS MORNING. THAT’S STILL GOING TO ADD QUITE A BIT OF A CHILL AS YOU HEAD OUT THIS MORNING, ESPECIALLY AFTER THIS BANK OF CLOUDS MOVES OUT. SO WE’LL SEE TEMPERATURES DROP A BIT MORE AS WE GET CLOSER TO AND AFTER SUNRISE, BUT WE WILL SEE A BIT OF SUNSHINE TODAY BEFORE WE CLOUD BACK OVER. STORM SYSTEM STILL OUT WEST WILL BE PUSHING EAST AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE DAY. SO LET’S GO THROUGH STORM PREDICTOR. SOME MORNING SUNSHINE TEMPERATURES, TEENS BY LUNCHTIME CLOUDING OVER IN THE AFTERNOON. STILL DRY TEMPERATURES LIKELY ONLY IN THE UPPER TEENS TO NEAR 20 6:00. THIS MODEL STILL KEEPS US DRY. BETTER CHANCE TO SEE SOME SNOW, MAYBE OUT TOWARD NORFOLK AND COLUMBUS, BUT AFTER 6:00, ESPECIALLY SEEING THAT SNOW MOVE INTO THE OMAHA METRO, LIKELY AROUND MOST OF EASTERN NEBRASKA BY 9:00. EVERYWHERE BY MIDNIGHT. HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHTTIME HOURS, THERE’S 6:00 AM, STILL SOME MODERATE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW POTENTIAL AGAIN NEAR BLIZZARD LIKE CONDITIONS FOR A LOT OF US, ESPECIALLY NORTH OF THE METRO, SOME OF THE MORE RURAL AREAS WITH STRONGER WINDS STILL, MOST OF THE SNOW FALLING, WRAPPING UP BY NOON. BUT THE BLOWING SNOW CONCERNS CONTINUE INTO THE AFTERNOON AND IT IS JUST BITTERLY COLD. TEMPERATURES IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. WIND CHILLS 10 TO 15 BELOW ZERO. AND THEN GET READY FOR THAT PROLONGED EXTREME COLD FROSTBITE AS LITTLE AS 15 TO 30 MINUTES SETTING IN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WEEKEND FEELS LIKE TEMPERATURES 20 TO 30 BELOW ALL DAY SATURDAY, 25 TO 35 BELOW ALL DAY SUNDAY. SO WE HAVE SEVERAL SEVERE WINTER WEATHER DAYS AHEAD ALL THE WAY UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY. SO THE ONE TWO PUNCH OF ANOTHER WINT
